GetResponse vs. Drip: Comparisons, Features, and Pricing

Choosing the perfect tool for your email marketing campaigns can be the difference between success and failure.

And that means that choosing the right one is, to say the least, essential.

But if you're reading this, that means you've narrowed your choices down to two options: GetResponse or Drip.

If it was up to me, I would tell you to go for the first choice. I think GetResponse is the top choice not only because it is our tool or because of its powerful email marketing capabilities, but also because of its unique features like funnels and webinar tools.

But that's the problem with choosing the right software for your business - the big decision is yours.

This article will compare the features of each tool so you can decide if GetResponse or Drip is right for you.

Author's Note: This comparison is accurate as of March 3, 2021. We do our best to keep it as accurate as possible, and we check it regularly, however, if you want to familiarize yourself with what our competitors have to offer you should check it on their official website or contact their representatives.

Drip vs. GetResponse: A comparison table

Wrapping up

1. Which one has A/B testing capabilities?

GetResponse

A / B testing is one of the most useful features of any useful marketing tool; it tells you what is working and what is not.

GetResponse's A / B testing capabilities are extensive. You can test the usual things like titles and forms, but you can also dig deeper to see the impact of your navigation elements on conversions.

You can even test which colors and call-to-action (CTA) buttons have the most impact on your audience.
An example of A/B headline testing using GetResponse.
An example of A/B headline testing using GetResponse.

If some color palettes work better than others, or if your followers click CTAs above the fold more than when they are below the fold, A / B testing will highlight it. And then, you can incorporate the changes into your marketing strategy to boost conversions.

Drop

Drip calls its A / B testing functionality “split testing”.

The features of the tool allow you to test basic elements such as:

  • Subject lines
  • Changing “from” names
  • Send times

However, Drip's A / B testing does not allow you to test the content of your emails. If your subject lines are working, this will tell you. But if you want to know which copy resonates the most with readers, you can't test it with Drip.

2. Are there inbuilt templates in these two email marketing products?

GetResponse

GetResponse's template library offers over 500 different options for starting your email campaigns.

GetResponse email templates.
GetResponse email templates.
What the email template library has in quantity, it also has in quality. Each template is designed with deliverability in mind, and they're optimized to reach all inboxes, no matter what items you add.

Each template is professionally designed for welcome emails or promotions, so you can talk to customers and sell your products without the need for coding skills. After all, the main goal is ease of use.

To save time, the templates are divided into categories like ecommerce, online marketing, travel, notifications and many more so that they are easy to find.

And if you want to edit an element or add your own images, you can use our drag and drop builder to customize the templates.

Drop

Drip recently added a drag and drop builder to its model tools.

In Drip's template library, you can choose from templates like holiday emails or monthly newsletters:
Drip templates.
Drip templates.

Then the drag and drop builder allows you to customize the template. However, the functionality is new, so the functionality is limited. It only allows you to have one box for editable content, so if you need multiple editable columns, you're out of luck.

3. What does each tool’s marketing automation look like?

GetResponse

We believe we've made it as easy as possible for everyone from small businesses to freelancers to set up an automated marketing campaign quickly and easily.

Let's start with your existing contact list. If you have one, just upload it to GetResponse using a CSV file or by integrating GetResponse with your current provider.

Once that is done, you are ready to launch your first campaign, this is where the dashboard comes in. And if you want to launch a simple campaign using predefined templates and triggers, you can use automation models.

Need to build a more in-depth campaign? You can create a custom workflow using a visual dashboard.

Suppose you want to pick up potential customers who abandon their cart at checkout. With our predefined workflows, GetResponse will automatically send them a follow-up email:
Cart abandonment flow in GetResponse Marketing Automation workflows.
Cart abandonment flow in GetResponse Marketing Automation workflows.
And if you want to add to this automation, you can drag and drop items from the list on the right side of the screen and add them to the workflow. Easy!

Drop

Drip's marketing automation tools also have a lot to offer.

Like GetResponse, it comes with pre-built automation workflows, so sending an abandoned cart or Black Friday emails is a straightforward task. The drag and drop builder also lets you customize workflows when you need them.

However, unlike GetResponse, Drip does not have a landing page or webinar tools, making it impossible to add these steps to your marketing funnel in your automation sequences.

If you want your workflows to reflect all of your marketing campaigns - not just your emails - this can be difficult.

4. Conversion funnels, anyone?

GetResponse

In the past, you would need a suite of different marketing tools to create custom funnels. But with GetResponse, you can now do it all under one roof. The Conversion Funnel Tool allows you to create a personalized funnel using all the marketing tools we offer, such as:

  • Landing Pages
  • Stores
  • Facebook Ads
  • Instagram Ads
  • Social Ads creator
  • Sales pages
  • Payment processors
  • Follow-up/abandoned cart emails

Once you've found a template that fits your marketing goal, it'll outline the things you need to add to each step of your funnel. The best part is you can visualize it:

A visual representation of list building funnel data.

Once all of the stuff is added and you kickstart your marketing campaign, GetResponse can spot leaks in the funnel. If people are depositing on the product page, it may indicate that you need a better deal or change the page itself.

And it also tracks the overall success rate of the campaign. You will see the number of unique visitors to the campaign, the number of conversions, and the revenue generated by a campaign.

Drop

Drip does not have a conversion funnel tool in its marketing suite.

5. What about autoresponders?

GetResponse

If you want to welcome a new subscriber as soon as they sign up or thank a customer for purchasing a product, why not put it on autopilot?

If you want a quick breakdown of what our autoresponder can do, you can watch it here.

Additionally, with GetResponse's calendar feature, you can map the autoresponders to be sent to specific days of the contact's cycle. The functionality is perfect for a rewarding campaign, customer onboarding, etc..

Drip

Drip's autoresponder tool comes with pre-packaged autoresponder campaigns, so if you're looking to sell a course or take a subscription trial, the work is already done for you.

All you need to do is view each email in the autoresponder sequence and customize them as needed.

Unlike GetResponse, Drip does not have a calendar tool for autoresponder emails. This can make viewing difficult for you and you might end up accidentally doubling emails.

Remember, no one likes a crowded inbox.

6. Webinars, anyone?

GetResponse

GetResponse makes it easy to launch an interactive webinar right from the dashboard.

Not only can you create webinars from scratch or using a template, but you can also add features like registration forms, images and even give the webinar a custom URL..
Webinars in GetResponse.
Webinars in GetResponse.
Here’s the best part: because you’re already running your other marketing campaign using GetResponse, your webinars will feed directly back into the same dashboard.

Every lead you collect using the webinar feature will be automatically added to your email list and nurtured through your marketing campaigns. Plus, when you launch a webinar, you'll also have access to tools like:
  • Interactive whiteboards
  • Screen sharing/interactive chat room
  • Recording (so you can remarket the webinar once it’s over)
  • Q&A session
  • Payment gateways
  • Moderated chat
  • Multiple hosts
Using these features, you can sell everything from products to courses directly from your webinars.

Drop

Drip does not offer any specific webinar tool in its marketing suite.

7. What are the costs of these two software products?

GetResponse

GetResponse offers four pricing tiers: Basic, Plus, Professional, and Max.

GetResponse pricing.
GetResponse pricing.
Like many email marketing tools, the price you'll pay depends on the size of your list.

If you have 1,000 contacts, the basic plan will cost $ 15 / month / user and will give you access to the email marketing suite, autoresponders, landing pages, lead funnels, and Facebook ads.

The Plus plan costs $ 49 / month / user and gives you access to webinars, sales funnels, and the automation builder if you need more features.

And you can try everything for free with a 30-day free trial.

And if you like what you see, you'll be rewarded with a discount. Buy a one-year plan and get an 18% discount. If you subscribe to a two-year plan, you will benefit from a 30% reduction.

Drop

Drip's pricing structure offers good value for money as it is based solely on the size of your list.

If you have 1,000 contacts, you will have access to the platform for $ 29 / month. And if you want to try before you buy, they offer a short 14-day trial.

Unlike GetResponse, Drip doesn't offer any discounts to customers who want to sign a longer annual contract.

8. Which one lets you build landing pages?

GetResponse

Never built a landing page before?

GetResponse has your back with over 180 different templates to choose from.

Landing page templates.

You can personalize any landing page with your branding, images and text. No coding experience is necessary and every landing page is responsive on all devices, from desktop to mobile.

Landing page creator.

That doesn't mean you can't add code.

The landing page editor allows you to add custom code using HTML, CSS, or Javascript, which allows you to embed things like a Twitter feed or form. All you have to do is copy and paste.

With the landing page builder, you can also:
  • structure your landing pages using sections
  • add content blocks for images, video, text, and buttons.
  • add static and pop-up forms.
  • add webinar registration forms.
  • add a sense of urgency with countdown timers.
  • collect payments thanks to PayPal integration.
  • add social sharing icons.
  • add custom-code elements using HTML, CSS, or Javascript.
  • preview your landing page to see what it looks like on a desktop or a mobile device.

Drip

Drip doesn’t have any landing page building tools.

9. Which one lets you do segmentation?

GetResponse

GetResponse's segmentation tools make it easy to create personalized and highly targeted emails.

If you want your contacts to feel like you're talking to them one-on-one, you can. GetResponse uses data from forms on websites or landing pages to learn more about your subscribers.

Once they arrive on your contact list, you can tag them based on their behavior and send targeted emails to specific groups.

However, we are not stopping there. We even track the engagement of your contacts using our lead scoring tool. GetResponse selects who pays the most attention based on a 5-score scale:
  • Not engaged (when somebody is not interested in the content you send them… at all)
  • At-risk
  • Neutral
  • Engaged
  • Highly engaged (when somebody loves the content you send and is actively opening emails and clicking the links)

We call this an Engagement Score, which will show up next to each contact on your list:

Contacts with varying engagement scores.

Now you can send your best deals to the customers most likely to click the 'buy' button!

Drop

Drip's segmentation features allow you to target Internet users based on their subscription and last activity.

You can also add specific conditions to these segments. For example, if a subscriber joined your list on Black Friday last year, you can segment them onto a new list to retarget them for that year's Black Friday sales.

The tool also uses a beacon-based system.

It allows you to segment your list using tags like when someone joined your list or how much they spent on their last purchase.

But you can't see how engaged every subscriber is like you can with GetResponse.

10. What’s customer support like with these two vendors?

GetResponse

We support our customers - 24/7.

Customers can contact our experts via live chat or email us about their issue based on their pricing plan. All of our customer support channels offer help in 8 different languages.

Our Enterprise clients also have their own account manager, who helps integrate, configure and optimize marketing campaigns.

If there are any issues they can help resolve them quickly and they will also analyze campaigns to find ways to increase conversions and engagements.

Drop

Drip has a robust online support center. It allows customers to self-diagnose issues using webinars, blog posts, and online courses.

If you encounter an issue that you cannot resolve on your own, Drip offers email and live chat support from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday.

Any problem outside of these hours, and you will need to fill out a contact form on their website. There is no phone support or after-hours assistance.

11. Which one helps you run Facebook and Google ads easily?

GetResponse

We know that launching successful advertising campaigns can be difficult, which is why we've made it easier by using our personalized advertising tools.

You can design and run Facebook ads from the GetResponse dashboard. Using the Social Ads Creator app, you can use templates to personalize professional-looking Facebook ads.

Like our other templates, you can edit any elements you want with the drag and drop tool:
Facebook Ads creator.

Once ready, all you have to do is choose a target audience such as unique visitors, lookalike audiences, or existing contacts and click publish.

We also recently launched a tool that lets you create Google Ads from the dashboard. Once you've integrated your Google Ads account, all you need to do is add text to your ad, define the target audience, and add the budget you want:

Easy!

Drip

You cannot design or run Facebook or Google Ads ads using Drip.

However, Drip has a Facebook Ads integration which you can use to log into the platform. If a follower takes a certain action, you can add or remove them from a Custom Audience on Facebook, making targeting easier.

But can you launch and edit Facebook, Instagram, and Google Ads from Drip? No.
